Senior Project Engineer BNL Physics Dept., 1997 - present
Electrical/emergency shutdown system design, construction and maintenance
for the PHENIX detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC).
Worked with the Facility & Operations Division and contractors for
compliance with NFPA-70E Arc Flash Program during initial BNL building
inspections to develop one-line drawings from scratch when original documents
did not exist.
Part time electrical engineer /subject matter expert for Environmental
Restoration Projects (HFBR/BGRR de-commissioning & Stack Demolition)
from 2006 to present.
Project Engineer - BNL Reactor Division, 1990 - 1997
Responsible for the design and implementation of reactor plant modification
projects for the High Flux Beam Reactor (HFBR) and Medical Research Reactor (BMRR).
HFBR lead engineer on a two year project to overhaul and retrofit the 2400
and 480 volt switchgear breakers with a remote Power Monitoring and Control
System.
Long Island Lighting Company, Shoreham Nuclear Power Station (SNPS), 1986-1989
As a Plant Modification Engineer, implemented post TMI modification projects to
prepare for fuel loading and eventual licensing of the facility.
As a relay/protection division supervisor, (re-located to Hicksville office for 15 months)
directed technicians in the calibration of substation protective relays & devices.
Stone & Webster Engineering Corp., Boston, MA 1981-1985
As Plant Startup & Test Engineer, accepted field assignments at various nuclear and
fossil fueled power stations. Performed pre-op testing on condensate filter demineralizers,
solid radwaste equipment and emergency backup generator controls.
General Dynamics Electric Boat Division, Groton, CT 1979-1981
Provided construction engineering support to shipyard trades and technicians during
installation of General Electric S8G & S6G PWRs in Trident and Los Angeles Class
Submarines. Worked on SSBNs 726 (Ohio), 727 (Michigan), SSNs 699 (Jacksonville),
700 (Dallas).
