Gen Shirane will be celebrating his 80th birthday this year. He has had an incredible 50 year career doing neutron scattering experiments and is still going strong! An afternoon symposium entitled “Gen Shirane and the Frontiers of Neutron Scattering,” is planned for July 15, 2004 at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Some of his long time collaborators will speak, along with the current generation of neutron scientists. The afternoon will conclude with a perspective on the future of neutron scattering. In the evening there will be a dinner where “tales of Gen” will be told. Please join us by registering for this celebration of Gen and Neutron Scattering.
