Margaret Lynch

Assistant Laboratory Director, Community, Education, Government & Public Affairs

Margaret Lynch, a member of the Laboratory Policy and Management Councils and a direct report to the Laboratory Director since 1997, is responsible for developing, implementing and assessing strategic internal and external communications plans and programs to advance the scientific mission and priority programs and initiatives of the Lab; overseeing science education and workforce development programs to fulfill the education and diversity goals of the U.S. Department of Energy and the Lab; and developing and implementing government and community relations programs to help increase support for the Lab’s programs and priority projects.

Margaret Lynch holds an MBA from New York University and a BA in English from St. Peter’s College. Her professional portfolio includes:

• Program Director, Public Affairs and Community Relations for Environmental Resources Management, Inc. – a global environmental consulting firm (1995-97);
• Vice President, Marcus Group, Inc. – a government and public relations consulting firm located in New York City (1992-95);
• Director, Public Affairs for Northville Industries Corp. – the largest independent operator of petroleum storage facilities on the east coast (1988-92);
• Manager, Government and Public Affairs for Browning-Ferris Industries – one of the largest publicly held companies engaged in providing waste services (1985-88).
