Experiments: Completed / Terminated
Superconducting Micro-undulator FEL Experiment
Wound yokes of the superferric wigglers used in the Free-Electron
Laser
experiments at the Accelerator Test Facility. The top yoke is the
1.8 cm period, parabolic pole-face, radiator wiggler of the High-Gain-Harmonic
Generation FEL. It is 25 cm long. The bottom yoke is a 20 cm long,
8.8 mm
period section of the Microundulator FEL Oscillator experiment. The
operating field of this wiggler is 0.5 Tesla at a gap of 4.4 mm. Both
yokes are precision machined, so that very low field errors are achieved
without any shimming or trimming.
