We encourage your participation in our next celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in 2008!  Included in our celebration will be a cultural display in the lobby of Berkner Hall and various lunchtime and/or evening events.  If you have any ideas you would like to share for this celebration, please do not hesitate to contact the APAA Board.

In celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, the BERA Asian Pacific American Association invites you to share the following events with us!



SATURDAY, MAY 3RD


"Sakura Matsuri" Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival

BERA bus trip to the “Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival” at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. The cost is $12 per person (adult or child) which includes the bus and admission to the garden. The coach bus will leave Brookhaven Center at 9am and leave the Gardens at 4:30pm.

The afternoon is filled with activities for children and adults!

Unintentional Intolerance: What NICE People Need to Know
 

A talk by Dr. Steve Robbins

Dr. Robbins explores the “hows” and “whys” surrounding unintentional intolerance in this eye-opening presentation. He inspires and motivates listeners to be more mindful about inclusion and valuing others for their unique gifts, skills and experiences.

Compassion And Selfless Service - Pathway To Peace
 

A talk by Dayamrita Chaitanya

Amma (Mata Amritanandamayi), is widely regarded as one of the world’s foremost humanitarian spiritual leaders. Her life is dedicated to alleviating suffering through personal outreach, and a network of charitable volunteer organizations. Demonstrating by example, Amma encourages compassion and service. Amma says that compassion for the poor is our duty. “Real meditation happens when we become truly selfless.”

Join us for a talk given by Dayamrita Chaitanya, one of Amma's Senior Disciples.  This event is co-sponsored by APAA with the BERA Indo-American Association.
