More Fun Events Added to BERA-IAA Diwali 2006 Function

Rangoli Display:

There is no Diwali without a Rangoli! We have planned a Rangoli for the function – the design and the colors will be provided. Please come about an hour early to help us color the Rangoli. We need your help, as this is a BIG Rangoli! Please contact Kumi Pandya (pandya@bnl.gov).

Donate Food, Win Prizes:

To add an element of surprise we have added a raffle – one raffle ticket for each donation of a non-perishable can/jar/box food item (e.g. pasta, sauce, cereal, peanut butter, Jelly etc.) Donate more items and get more tickets!! There will be several grand prizes – we suggest you donate one item per family member and increase your chances to win. Our goal is to collect at least 500 pounds of food – and we are counting on your generous contributions. We are able to host this function only because the Brookhaven National Laboratory provides us with its wonderful facilities. This in turn gives an opportunity to our youth (and toddlers) to perform on stage. By donating food for the BNL food Donation program our children learn that “We Care and We Share” for the community. Please put the food items in your car/van right now so you don’t forget at the last minute! Please contact Kumi Pandya (pandya@bnl.gov).

Medals and Certificates to Performers and Volunteers:

At the request of many participants, we have decided to present medals to performers and volunteers in addition to giving certificates. However, the cost of medal was not included in our original ticket price. To cover these additional costs, we are requesting you to please make voluntary cash contributions in the donation box to be located at the function.  In addition, our left over paper products from previous functions can be obtained at the suggested donations. Please contact Vatsal Bhatt (bhatt@bnl.gov) for these donations and for distribution of assignments if you requested to become a volunteer or would like to become a volunteer.

BERA-IAA Logo Contest:

BERA-IAA has been in existence for more than 15 years. We are looking for a good logo for BERA-IAA, and encourage all of you to become a part of this through a contest. There is no age limit to contribute and you do not have to be present at the Diwali function to submit your entry.  The logo can be an electronic drawings or scanned hand drawn paper rendering submitted to us  (bera-iaa@bnl.gov) by Nov 15th.  The winner whose logo is chosen will receive a $25 gift certificate and a community wide recognition. Please contact Sharadha Sambasivan, (Sharadha@bnl.gov) for more information.

Save Tickets, Come Early to Get Seats With Family Members and Wait List Status:

To make sure that people who registered early get a seat in this sold-out event, we request you to please save your ticket during the entire function. Volunteers will check them at the entrance of auditorium and at the entrance of dining hall. Moreover, it is in your interest to come early to get seats together with your family members and friends. All requests for reservations made after 10:00 p.m. Monday October 30, 2006 are automatically entered in the waiting list. Please contact Saroj Kandasamy (Saroj@bnl.gov) for information about reservations (confirmation of wait list, etc.).

We are looking forward to sharing an exciting evening with you on this Saturday!
