BNL Veterans Association Remembers Camp
Upton's 90th Anniversary
Saturday, August 25 marked the 90th anniversary of Camp Upton. To
recognize the contributions of the thousands of World-War I and II men and
women who lived and trained and convalesced on this site, the Brookhaven
Veterans Association (BVA) sponsored a ceremony on
Friday, August 24, at noon
at the flag pole in front of the Brookhaven Center. Don Farnam, BVA
Commander, concluded his brief address to his fellow veterans and others
present by saying, "Those who thrive here daily can be comforted in the
knowledge that this site is now a place of peaceful industry. We were
soldiers in another era and veterans in a new century, and we have become
the stewards of the history that was written here."
