Divisions

Business Systems Division Provides expertise to investigate, recommend, implement and automate process improvements to business systems within the BNL community.	Energy & Utilities Division Oversees BNL’s Utility Systems, Utility Plants, and Energy Management Programs which include sustainability, conservation, obtaining economical electric power and fuel supplies for BNL.
Environmental Restoration Projects Plans and coordinates the remediation of Brookhaven's environment.	Environmental Protection Division Carries the many functions that protect BNL's workers, visitors and the environment, and ensures Lab compliance with environmental laws and regulations. Also responsible for providing safe collection, packaging and disposal of the Laboratory's hazardous, radioactive, and mixed wastes.
Fiscal Services Division Provides professional expertise and services with respect to financial, accounting, payroll, taxation, travel, and internal control matters.	Human Resources Division Handles scientific and non-scientific employment, and coordinates diversity programs, benefits, recruitment, labor relations, training, awards, and records.
Information Services Division Oversees library, publications, records management and technical editing functions.	Information Technology Division Provides expertise in computing hardware and software support, as well as telecommunications services for the entire Laboratory.
Laboratory Protection Division Protects the Laboratory site and its assets and additionally provides emergency response and support through trained fire, rescue, hazmat, security, and emergency management for all situations.	Maintenance & Fabrication Division Maintain and operate building systems and facilities, and manufacturer mechanical components and assemblies in support of the Laboratory Science and Operations mission by providing leadership and craft services for all aspects of building and facility maintenance.
Occupational Medicine Clinic Provides a range of occupational health services for employees.	Production Services Provides a full range of photographic, video, graphic design, printing, scanning and duplicating services.
Procurement & Property Management Division Works with external businesses to provide goods and services to the entire Laboratory.	Radiological Control Division Ensures proper protection of staff, visitors and the environment from radiological hazards.
Safety & Health Services Division Protects workers and visitors from non-radiological hazards.	Site Services Division Enhance the site aesthetic so as to improve staff recruitment and retention, safety, and customer satisfaction, and to support the overall Laboratory mission.
Staff Services Division Oversees conference planning, food services, transportation, mail, on-site housing, off-site housing, BERA/Recreation, ESOL program, and Quality of Life program.

Offices

Budget Coordinates the development and submission of the Lab's budget.	Community Involvement Provides a mechanism by which people in the community can have their opinions carefully considered by Laboratory administration as part of the overall decision making process.
Counterintelligence Manages and maintains BNL's Counterintelligence Program against foreign and industrial or intelligence activities in the U.S. directed at or involving DOE programs, facilities, technology, personnel, unclassified sensitive or proprietary information, and classified matter.	Diversity Encourages diversity of color, age, sex, religion, national origin, social level, work experience and education background among BNL staff.
Educational Programs Creates and oversees a wide range of science education programs for students and teachers at the high school and college levels.	Facilities Operations Office Addresses key issues in work planning, maintenance engineering, service-delivery models, and annual facility-work plans.
General Counsel / Legal Office Provides legal counsel to Laboratory management and handles all legal matters.	Hazardous Materials Transportation Safety Provides guidance and resources regarding the proper methods of transporting hazardous materials.
Intellectual Property & Sponsored Research Identifies, promotes and facilitates licensing and technical assistance for American business based on BNL science.	Internal Audit & Oversight Serves as an independent resource for conducting internal audits and studies, coordinating outside audit activities, and providing expert information and guidance on effective internal controls and prudent business practices.
Isotope Distribution Prepares radioisotopes for distribution to the nuclear medicine community and industry, and develops new radioisotopes desired by nuclear medicine investigators.	Media & Communications Oversees the Laboratory's communications with news media, and the preparation of informative internal and general publications. Production Services, which provides photography, video, and graphic design support is also within this Office.
Modernization Project Office Responsible for engineering, design, cost estimating, scheduling, and project controls, including an Earned Value Management System (EVMS), on conventional construction projects undertaken by the Laboratory.	Office of Research Administration Provides support for the Institutional Review Board for human subjects research and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee for animal research.
Policy & Strategic Planning Office Manages and oversees development of the Strategic Plan, Annual Laboratory Plan and Organizational Business Plans. Facilitates the contractor assurance monitoring and reporting processes.	Quality Management Provides technical assistance to ensure that departments and divisions fulfill the BNL Quality Assurance Program.
SBMS The Standards-Based Management System (SBMS) Office provides BNL staff with the support to develop policies, standards of performance, and Laboratory-wide procedures and guidelines that are current, accurate, and relevant to their work and maintains the SBMS website.	Training & Qualification Coordinates and provides guidance for training and employee development on site.
Women's Programs Encourages and sponsors programs for women at BNL and in the community, including scholarships and lectures.

One of ten national laboratories overseen and primarily funded by the Office of Science of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Brookhaven National Laboratory conducts research in the physical, biomedical, and environmental sciences, as well as in energy technologies and national security. Brookhaven Lab also builds and operates major scientific facilities available to university, industry and government researchers. Brookhaven is operated and managed for DOE's Office of Science by Brookhaven Science Associates, a limited-liability company founded by Stony Brook University, the largest academic user of Laboratory facilities, and Battelle, a nonprofit, applied science and technology organization.
