BGRR Operations: The Endless Sleep

This is a chalkboard used to indicate the status of the reactor to those in the building. After 18 years of operation, the BGRR ceased producing neutrons for the research community, its role supplanted by Brookhaven's newest machine, the more efficient High Flux Beam Reactor.  Read the 1968 Brookhaven Bulletin article which covered the closure (PDF file).
