George Lake was the Project Scientist for the NASA program that produced Beowulf. His group at the University of Washington built the first one that used CPUs other than Intel. He will talk about the general lesson to be learned from that high impact project. There are some obvious projects that would have similar future impact, but perhaps not so obvious reasons why they aren't being done.
