Brookhaven National Laboratory's High
Flux Beam Reactor will be open to the public on
August 24, the last day of the Laboratory's 1997 Summer Sunday Tours. Tour
hours are between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Visitors may view the experimental
floor of the world-renowned research reactor that has been closed since
January, after the discovery of a tritium leak from its spent-fuel pool.
The tour also includes the popular, one-hour, live "Whiz Bang Science
Show" and a guided bus ride around the site. The tours are free and
no reservations are required. For more information, call Brookhaven Lab's
Public Affairs Office at 344-2345.
