EVENT: The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will host an interactive workshop to discuss the potential formation and operation of a community advisory council to advise DOE and Brookhaven National Laboratory on selected issues, particularly environmental, safety and health issues. All interested community members are invited to participate. The event is open to the media.
WHEN: Thursday, November 20, 1997
Information Session: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Dinner: 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Panel Discussion: 6:45 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.
WHERE: Brookhaven Center, Brookhaven National Laboratory. The Laboratory is located on William Floyd Parkway, 1.5 miles north of LIE Exit 68.
DETAILS: The afternoon session will include general information about site specific advisory boards and community advisory councils that function at other DOE sites around the U.S. The evening panel discussion will feature several community, DOE and DOE-contractor members of community groups at other DOE sites. Community members may attend all or part of the workshop. The cost of dinner is $11 per person.
