Argentine Pianist to Give Concert at Brookhaven Lab, Sept. 17

UPTON, NY – Argentine pianist Mirian Conti will give a concert at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Brookhaven National Laboratory on Wednesday, September 17, at noon, in Berkner Hall. The concert is free and open to the public. All visitors to the Laboratory age 16 and over must bring a photo ID.

Conti will perform works by Spanish composers. She will also discuss with the audience the musical style and significance of the works she performs.

A leading advocate of Spanish music, Conti has won the praise of prestigious American and Argentine composers. She studied with Genny Blech in Buenos Aires, and later earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees as an award-winning William Petscheck Scholarship student at The Juilliard School. The Edwin Bachman Estate has established a scholarship honoring Conti at Juilliard.

Conti has performed at well-known concert halls throughout the world, including Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, and Weill Recital Hall. In 1989, she was awarded a special prize as the best performer of Spanish music in the International Pilar Bayona Piano Competition in Zaragoza, Spain. She was recently awarded the André Segovia-José Miguel Ruiz Morales Prize in the XXXVIII Santiago de Compostela International University Competition in Spanish Music, Spain.
