Open House at the CFN
On Sunday, July 12, all are welcome to visit the Center for Functional Nanomaterials, where huge discoveries are being made at ultra-small dimensions.
Here’s a list of activities in the CFN:
- See DNA in 3-D (3-D glasses provided)
- Assemble DNA models
- Dress up in clean room garb and get your photo taken
- Watch writing on a penny with the focus ion beam
- Stump a scientist with your questions about nanoscience
- Take the nanoquiz to win a prize
- See a transmission electron microscope in action
- Watch a demonstration using a tabletop scanning electron microscope
At Berkner Hall:
- Play with super-sized nanostructures in the “Nano Toy Zone”
- Listen to a talk by CFN Director Emilio Mendez on “Nanoscience in
- Everyday Life” (at 11:45 a.m., 1:15 a.m. and 2:45 a.m.
