First User Town Hall Meetingby Molly Frame, UEC Chair The Users Executive Committee held its first User Town Hall Meeting on July 26, 2007, at the CFN. UEC members in attendance were Molly Frame, Perena Gouma, Peter Bennett, and Kenneth Evans-Lutterodt. Items on the agenda included the draft UEC Charter, status of equipment installation, and future Town Hall meetings. The UEC also met with CFN management and staff to discuss future user needs. We talked about posting on the CFN website the timeline for equipment installation, the names and contact information for Group Leaders, and names of users present on site for collegial contacts. The next Town Hall meeting will be later this fall. The Center for Functional Nanomaterials (CFN) at Brookhaven National Laboratory
provides state-of-the-art capabilities for the fabrication and study of nanoscale materials,
with an emphasis on atomic-level tailoring to achieve desired properties and functions.The
overarching scientific theme of the CFN is the development and understanding of nanoscale materials
that address the Nations' challenges in energy security, consistent with the Department of Energy mission.
