Wearing Personal Protective Equipmentby Steve Hoey, ES&H Coordinator for the CFN
In response to a DOE Integrated Safety Management audit at the Lab, Brookhaven Director Sam Aronson recently issued a memo pertaining to work clothing. Accordingly, all personnel at the CFN are required to wear long pants, long-sleeve shirts (or lab coats), and closed-toe shoes in laboratory and industrial areas. This applies to all staff, visitors, contractors, and users, and is to be implemented immediately. If you are working at the CFN and unable to meet this requirement, please contact Steve Hoey, ESH Coordinator, or Ext. 7936 or hoey@bnl.gov .

The Center for Functional Nanomaterials (CFN) at Brookhaven National Laboratory
provides state-of-the-art capabilities for the fabrication and study of nanoscale materials,
with an emphasis on atomic-level tailoring to achieve desired properties and functions.The
overarching scientific theme of the CFN is the development and understanding of nanoscale materials
that address the Nations' challenges in energy security, consistent with the Department of Energy mission.
