Macromolecular and Nanomaterial Synthesis & Assembly

Contact: Oleg Gang

Capabilities include techniques and methods required for the synthesis, fabrication and study of novel hybrid structures and functionalities using regulated nanoscale assembly and self-organization approaches. Capabilities and expertise include solution-based synthesis and characterization of a variety of soft, biological, hybrid and inorganic nanomaterials, advanced functionalization routes for surfaces and nano-objects, and selective biomolecular recognition.

Capabilities also provide broad support for the construction of DNA and protein based nanostructures, nano-scaffolds, and nano-machines and targeted software for DNA structure and sequence design. Preparative capabilities include gel-based DNA purification, conventional and real-time PCR for DNA amplification, as well as wet-lab facilities for preparing DNA and protein derivatives. Solution phase analysis is available via gel or UV-absorption studies from room temperature up to 80ºC. The range of structure characterization techniques is available in our Structural Probing capability.
