Research Activities:

• Synthesize and characterize large single crystals of complex materials as catalysts for the production of H₂ fuel through water-splitting under visible light.
• Perform theoretical calculations on these materials for the understanding of their structure-property relationships, as well as the prediction of prospective compounds as catalysts in the photochemical water-splitting process.

One of ten national laboratories overseen and primarily funded by the Office of Science of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Brookhaven National Laboratory conducts research in the physical, biomedical, and environmental sciences, as well as in energy technologies and national security.
