Public Water Hookups Extended to Manorville

Public Water Hookup Area

The Department of Energy offered public water hookups to Manorville residents after ethylene dibromide (EDB) was found in groundwater 1,000 feet west of Weeks Avenue.

In August, area homes were canvassed, elected officials were briefed, and a proposed cleanup plan was sent out to more than 2,300 stakeholders on the BNL mailing list.

After input from community residents and elected officials, the hookup area was expanded and merged with the Shirley hookup area bringing the total number of homes eligible for public water to more than 1,300.
