Upton Ecological and Research Reserve Receives EPA Award

Upton Ecological and Research Reserve managers from the Department of Energy, the Laboratory, and from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service received an "Environmental Quality" award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for development and management of the Upton Reserve.
Research conducted at the Upton Reserve includes several data-acquisition projects such as a vegetation map of the Laboratory, deer population surveys, and exotic plant invasion studies. Pine Barrens-related research and educational programs for local high schools, colleges, and universities have also been created and conducted at the Reserve.
The award was presented in EPA Region 2 Headquarters on April 23, 2004.
