Xuerong earned a B.Sc. degree in physics in 2001 from University of
Science and Technology of China in Hefei. He then moved to the University
of California, San Diego and obtained his PhD in 2009. Since the summer of
2009, Xuerong has been a post doc in the x-ray scattering group at BNL.
His research interests are in hard x-ray scattering
studies of strongly correlated systems. In these systems, the electronic,
magnetic and lattice degrees of freedom couple strongly and result in
complex ground states. Using elastic and inelastic hard x-ray scattering
techniques, he explores the nature of these ground state and their
excitation spectra.
