Multiorbital
Extended Hubbard Model
The
multiorbital extended Hubbard model provides a natural method for incorporating
many particle effects into electronic structure calculations. To date
only the single orbital model has been extensively studied despite the
fact that magnetic and superconducting materials including manganites
and cuprates would seem to require more than one orbital. In this talk
I review the model itself, the choice of parameters (it is a semiempirical
model), and cite a few previous applications. This provides the background
for the Quantum Monte Carlo calculations currently being performed by
Isabel Campos and me.
