Numerical modelling of the initial stage of a high energy heavy ion collision

The dynamics of gluons in the central region of a high-energy nuclear collision can be described by a classical model, and therefore admits a fully non--perturbative numerical treatment. I will describe the methodology and results of an ongoing numerical study, aimed at understanding the initial stage of a heavy-ion collisions corresponding to the RHIC and to the LHC regimes.
