Writing a Technical Book: Monographs and Textbooks

What goes into writing a monograph or textbook? How does one approach a publisher? What do publishers offer? How are books edited and produced? What influences sales? This talk for scientists and engineers will discuss these and related issues for first time authors.

Thomas Robertazzi, of Stony Brook's Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has written two graduate textbooks, co-authored a research monograph and edited a reprint volume. He has also served as editor for books for the IEEE Communications Society.
