Quantum Optics; a Nanophysics Problem and its Solution Using RIKEN Computer


We describe the main features and advantages of photonic crystals whose discovery has opened new methods of controlling light. We compare the computational method, the finite difference time domain method, with others used in similar computations. Also, we present applications of photonic crystals in a few opto-electronic devices. Finally, we discuss the implementation of this problem on the RIKEN computer.
