CryptoCard Software Token

These are specific instructions pertaining to ST-1 tokens and are considered an addendum to the CRYPTOCard Token User Guide… consult the Guide for complete token usage instructions.

First Use of ST-1 Software Token

Please READ Installation/Initialization/New Pin Entry instructions corresponding to the operating system you wish to install your ST-1 on.  Close the instruction window when done and return to First Time Use of Token section of the CRYPTOCard User Guide for further instruction.

Note: 'Initial PIN' and 'Default PIN' as referred to in these documents are considered one in the same.

Known Problems: Newer operating systems have been known to experience problems with the software token installation files, relative to the Java JRE version built in to the installation files. Refer to the following instructions for information relative to your particular operating system.

Display Options of ST-1 Tokens

GUI Interface of the ST-1 Version 5.16 token (or greater)

ST1's V.5.16 or greater do not offer a choice of display options, but instead present passwords to the user in a standard GUI interface. It is important to note that V.5.16 ST-1s DO NOT display CHALLENGES to the user on the token display. However, the user still does have the option to RESYNC the V.5.16 token by selecting "OPTIONS/RESYNCHRONIZE".

Display Options on older ST-1 tokens (prior to Version 5.16)

Older versions of ST-1 tokens have two different interfaces, or "looks". The "RB-1 emulation interface" requires you to enter data with a keypad that resembles a calculator and which happens to look exactly like the RB-1 hardware version of the token.  The "graphical user interface" prompts you to enter data in a series of pop-up boxes.  You choose which interface to use; both offer the same level of security.

For simplicity’s sake, all instructions in the CryptoCard Token User Guide are directed at the use of the "RB-1 emulation interface" option.  If the token user has set the ST-1 display option to “Graphical User Interface” the interface with the ST-1 token is visually different but the same general concepts in the instructions apply. If anything, “Graphical User Interface” is very basic… the only options are:

  1. Turning it "On"
  2. Entering the PIN
(selecting "Change PIN" button if you need to change current PIN)
  3. Seeing the current challenge ( ST-1 version 5.0 only ) & response
(selecting "Re-Synch" button if you need to alter the token’s current challenge)
  4. Turning if ‘Off’ when done, allowing you to start process over again.

To change the ST-1 display interface...

  • Select "Options" menu on the ST-1 token
  • Click "Display Interface"
  • Select desired interface
