Installing and Configuring the VPN Software Components

Download Client
After downloading, double-click the <dmg> file to mount the VPN
image. Once mounted open the image and double-click on <Cisco VPN
Client.mpkg> file to install.
- If after installing the VPN client you find you need to make a
change to the client's preconfigured Group Access file,
click here. This procedure
also describes the process of
creating the actual VPN IPSec. tunnel connection
into the BNL campus
network.
The Authentication window appears. You must have an Administrator
password to install the VPN client application

- Click the lock at the bottom left corner of the Authentication
window. The Authenticate dialog box appears.

- Enter your administrator username and password or challenge
phrase.
- Click OK.
- The first window that appears during the installation process is
the introduction.

- Click Next to continue or Cancel to quit the installation
process. Install the VPN client in the default folder,
/Applications, or choose another folder.

- Click Next to continue, Previous to go back to a previous step,
or Cancel to quit the installation process. Install the VPN client
command-line utilities in the default folder /usr/local/bin, or
choose another folder.

- Click Next to continue, Previous to go back to a previous step,
or Cancel to quit the installation process. The alias folder
contains the shortcut to VPN client application. Creating aliases is
optional. If you do not want to create aliases, select the Don't
create aliases radio button

- Click Next to continue, Previous to go back to a previous step,
or Cancel to quit the installation process. The Preinstallation
Summary window lists the installation selection that were chosen in
the previous steps.

Be sure that all of the installation selections are correct.
- If the summary information is correct, click Install to
continue.
- If it is not correct, click Previous to return to any of the
previous installation windows.
The Cisco VPN client install takes some time, please be patient.


- Click Done to close the installer.
- Create Connection entry for BNL VPN.
- Open the VPN client application. The VPN client window
appears.

- Click the Connection Entries tab.
- Click NEW at the top of the VPN client window.
- The Create New VPN Connection Entry dialog box appears.

- Enter the Connection Entry name, Description and Host name as
shown above.
- Enter the Group Authentication Name and Password provided by
the BNL password office.
- And click Save. To return you to the Connection Entries tab.
- Click the BNLPixVPN entry to highlight it.
- Click Connect at the top of the VPN window.

- Enter your Crypto-Card username. Do not enter in a password at
this time.


- Now enter your Crypto Card password after verifying that you are
in sync with the crypto card server. You can determine this by the
fact that the Crypto Card challenge will be the same as that
displayed on your soft token ore hard card. Click the OK button. In
a few seconds, you should see a secure connection status.

- You are now connected to the BNL network. You can minimize
this screen.
