Regional Projects

Perfluorocarbon tracers (PFT) have been used for source attribution on the regional scale (hundreds of miles) in the Cross Appalachian Tracer Experiment (CAPTEX), Measurement of Haze and Visual Effects Study (MOHAVE more... ), the Big Bend Regional Aerosol and Visibility Observational Study (BRAVO more... ) studies.  In these studies PFT tracers were release concurrently with other environmental sources to determine the impact over distance.  For example, in the BRAVO study, two coal-fired power plants were used as sites for release of tracers to track the contribution of these plants to impaired visibility in the region more... .
