Dr. Barclay WardBarclay Ward is a consultant to the Nonproliferation and Safeguards Division. In a similar capacity he has worked for ACDA and the Department of State, focusing principally on the NPT. He served on the U.S. Delegations to the 1990 and 1995 NPT review conferences and in the State Department backstopped the U.S. Delegation to the 2005 NPT review conference. Dr. Ward is Professor Emeritus of The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. His teaching areas are arms control, U.S. foreign policy, international relations, and diplomacy. He has also taught for Vanderbilt University in its International Studies in London program and at Budapest University of Economic Sciences. Before taking up an academic career, Dr. Ward was a Foreign Service Officer, serving in Washington at the Department of State and at the U.S. Embassies in Ottawa and Warsaw. Dr. Ward is a graduate of Hamilton College. He received his Master’s
Degree from the School of Advanced International Studies of The Johns
Hopkins University and his PhD in political science from the University of
