See real DNA- the molecule that carries the genetic blueprints for all the living cells. Students will learnabout structure and nature of DNA as they extract and collect it from cell samples. This session will help students understand the basic concepts of molecules and the genetic code.

Objectives: Students will be able to extract and observe a visible amount of DNA from E.coli cells using a hands-on approach in a laboratory environment; explain the difference between Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic cells; define DNA as the genetic material in living organisms; understand that the sequence of DNA subunits determines an organism’s traits; and explain the processes of DNA precipitation and spooling.
