
The winner of each grade level from over 100 Suffolk County schools take part every year in BNL's Elementary School Science Fair. Some 470 projects, created by over 500 Suffolk County children ranging from kindergarten to 6th grade, compete.

Over 100 Suffolk County schools take part every year in BNL's Elementary School Science Fair. Some 470 projects, created by over 500 Suffolk County children ranging from kindergarten to 6th grade, compete.
The student projects include charts, experiments, demos, diagrams, and collections with a scientific objective. Brookhaven National Laboratory scientists and elementary school teachers judge the contest.

Elementary Schools interested in science fairs and science education
The winner (one for each grade level) is awarded a medal and a banner which can be displayed alongside the schools' sports banners.
Each student receives a ribbon for participating in the fair and honorable mention medals are also given out.
