Community Summer Science Program (CSSP)

The summer high school research program at BNL consists of four separate programs based on grade level and previous experience at BNL.  Preference is given to Suffolk County students.

• If you have completed 10th or 11th grade and HAVE NOT participated in a BNL research program, please apply to Community Summer Science Program.
• If you have completed 11th or 12th grade and HAVE participated in a BNL or other advanced science program, please apply to the High School Research Program.
• YOU MAY ONLY APPLY TO ONE PROGRAM.

All of the programs are five weeks in length and are full days Monday through Friday.  Dates for the summer 2008 program are from July 14 to August 14.

BNL conducts the Community Summer Science Program for high school students who have completed their sophomore or junior year and have not attended a previous BNL research program.  Students who have been in an advanced research program should apply to the High School Research Program.

Please note the following: Participants must be at least 16 years old, and either US citizens or Permanent Resident Aliens (PRA).  Preference is given to Suffolk County high school students.  

Students who are accepted for and in turn accept an internship will receive a guest appointment, and must complete BNL's orientation and safety training. 

Due to heightened safety regulations, students under the age of 18 may not be allowed to do certain tasks or work with certain chemicals or reagents that may be permitted in other venues, such as high school or university labs.

BNL does not provide transportation for the student.
