Graduate Research Internship Program (GRIP)
The Graduate Research Internship Program (GRIP) is designed for both
Masters and PhD students in the life or physical sciences, computer science,
engineering and mathematics. Students must be attending any U.S.
Accredited college or university and will work in collaboration with a
scientist from Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). Work will be on a
mutually agreed project that may lead to a publication or may support the
student's thesis or dissertation. Program
runs from June 4 through August 10, 2007.
Program:
After completing all necessary training, students can spend up to three
months interning with an assigned BNL researcher and have the option to
continue the project during the semesters following, depending upon the
requirements by both the researcher and respective college/university.
During the semester periods, the candidate will conduct research on
scheduled days, which shall not interrupt their course work at the
home institution. The project undertaken may support the student's
dissertation or thesis.
Eligibility:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Masters or PhD program in a
related research field
- Must have achieved a minimum GPA 3.5
- A minimum of 18 years of age (no upper age limit), regardless of education
level
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Alien card in hand
- Health insurance in hand
- Must be available for entire program, from June 4 through August 10.

- Housing, in a single occupancy dorm room
- On-site transportation
Deliverables:
- Research paper, poster for presentation, pre- and post-surveys, and
final experience report
