NSLS-HBCU Consortium

Brookhaven National Laboratory's Office of Educational Programs (OEP) and
the National Synchrotron Light Source (NSLS) have developed a consortium of
professors from
Historically Black Colleges and University (HBCU) to provide NSLS
access to HBCU faculty.
This program has three objectives:
- To expose HBCU research faculty to NSLS science
- To enhance the research capabilities of HBCU faculty
- To assist in developing competitive proposals enabling consortium
members to become independent users at the NSLS
The workshops, conducted over the course of two days, consist of
introductory lectures on synchrotron science, techniques, and operations.
Hands-on experimental activities will be offered to participants using a
variety of beamlines. Additionally, there will be a writing tutorial focused
on the development of competitive beamline proposals for independent
research at the NSLS.
