2006 Press Release

Recent studies suggest that there is a need for more scientists and engineers in the U.S. workforce. Do you think this perception is valid? Is there a public responsibility to encourage students to pursue a career in science? What would motivate you to pursue a career in science?
The awards ceremony was held on April 21, 2006. Special thanks go to the judges who volunteered their time to read the 157 essays that were submitted: Diane Greenberg, Jeanne Petschauer, Len Schutzman, and Mike Stegman. Thanks also go to our speakers: Frank Cresenzo of the U.S. Department of Energy and John Miller, Senior Chemist at Brookhaven National Laboratory's Chemistry Department.
Students were asked to email copies of their papers if they were willing to have the essays posted to the web.
