Electron-Ion Collider

Exploring the building blocks of visible matter
and the strongest force in nature

Introduction

Everything we see in the universe — all the stars, planets, and people — is made of atoms. Yet we may know more about some distant stars and galaxies than we do about the inner workings of the matter all around us. The Electron-Ion Collider, or EIC, will let us look inside atoms to study the smallest pieces and unlock the secrets of the strongest force in nature!
