Micro-focusing beamline X27A: beamline homepage
The NSLS, with funding from DOE BES, built a new micro-focusing endstation at beamline X27A. An EnviroSuite/CEMS team worked closely with NSLS scientific and technical staff to ensure the new micro-focusing beamline is optimized for Environmental Science Applications. First light is expected in November 2004. Some highlights include
- Monochromator design provides energy coverage from the uranium M5-edge (3.5 keV) to the antimony K-edge (30.5 keV).
- A new 13 element Ge detector equipped with fast digital electronics is available thanks to funding from DOE BER Environmental Remediation Science Division through EnviroSuite.
- The sample holder is designed to be compatible with the infrared microprobe beamline to allow direct overlap of images from these two techniques.
- Users interested in analyzing radionuclide-containing samples should contact Paul Northrup (northrup@bnl.gov) for NSLS approved safety procedures.
