The phytoremediation study, Determination of Phytoextraction and Harvesting Efficiency of Several Dominant Emergent Wetland Plants -- Contaminated Sediment in the Peconic River, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton, New York is available.

Fact sheets are now available discussing promising technologies for the remediation of contaminated sediment in the Peconic River on Laboratory property. These fact sheets offer a high-level evaluation of remedial alternatives. A more in-depth evaluation will be published later this summer as an addendum to the Operable Unit V Feasibility Study.

No decision has been made yet on which technologies will be applied to the Peconic River cleanup. The U.S. Department of Energy will consider community input and the evaluation results when making a decision on how to proceed with this project. Additional involvement opportunities will be announced when available.

Proceedings from the December 2000 workshop on Peconic River remedial alternatives are available online at the TechCon Peconic River Project web site. The TechCon site also contains a discussion forum where the public can ask questions about and provide comments on this project.
