has been approved. Attachments to this document include Appendix
A, Appendix

and Table C-3.

comment period was from September 22 to October 21, 2003.
Two reports — Peconic
River Habitat Assessment and Fish Biomass Prediction and Estimation
of Potential Water Levels in the Peconic River near Brookhaven
national Laboratory Based on a Review of Hydrologic Data —
have been placed on the web.
The Baseline Human Health Risk Assessment, Operable Unit V,
Peconic River is available for public review. The document
is at the Administrative Record libraries, and is available on the
web here. The Notice
of Availability was published on April 30, 2003.
The phytoremediation study, Determination
of Phytoextraction and Harvesting Efficiency of Several Dominant
Emergent Wetland Plants -- Contaminated Sediment in the Peconic
River, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton, New York is
available.
Fact sheets are now available
discussing promising technologies for the remediation of
contaminated sediment in the Peconic River on Laboratory property.
These fact sheets offer a high-level evaluation of remedial
alternatives. A more in-depth evaluation will be published later
this summer as an addendum to the Operable Unit V Feasibility Study.
No decision has been made yet on which technologies will be
applied to the Peconic River cleanup. The U.S. Department of
Energy will consider community input and the evaluation results when
making a decision on how to proceed with this project. Additional
involvement opportunities will be announced when available.
Proceedings
from the December 2000 workshop on Peconic River remedial
alternatives are available online at the TechCon
Peconic River Project web site. The TechCon site also contains a
discussion
forum where the public can ask questions about and provide
comments on this project.
Sewage Treatment Plant
8/03: The Sewage Treatment Plant cleanup has been
completed, in accordance with the Operable Unit V Record of
Decision. More information here
2/26/02: The Record of Decision for the Sewage Treatment
Plant has been signed. This document is available online in both html
and Adobe PDF formats.
