The purpose of the BNL Electrical Safety Program is the practical safeguarding of persons and property from hazards arising from the use of electricity.

Electrical work at BNL requires careful preplanning and execution according to safe work practices. It is the policy of BNL to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and refrain from working on or near energized conductors except for unavoidable conditions.
