Research at Brookhaven National Laboratory involving the use of marine craft, associated equipment, and personnel necessitates a guide to coordinate and standardize a uniform safety effort during such operations. It is essential that marine operations be performed in the safest manner practicable, in order to minimize hazards to personnel and property.

This subject area contains procedures for staff working on small vessels. Staff working on small vessels must prepare and submit work plans to the Laboratory Aviation and Marine Safety Committee for review and approval before they can start work. This subject area replaces Interim Procedure 2005-007, Marine Safety.
