In your papers, some of the subjects and the verbs do not get along very well. In fact, they are enemies!
The subject must "agree" with the verb. They should be like a married couple. Let me say a HAPPILY married couple!
This means that singular subjects require singular verbs, while a plural subject requires a plural verb. They have to be compatible.
Examples:
"Man" is singular, and so the verb "to read" needs an "s" at the end.
"Girls" is plural, so the verb "to sleep" stays without an "s."
There are some more difficult aspects to this S-V Agreement though. Sometimes it is not easy to know if a subject is singular or plural.
