Background

The Energy Sciences and Technology Department (ES&T) was formed in 2000 to offer the Department of Energy (DOE) a cohesive resource for achieving its energy mission. ES&T aggregates the Lab’s capabilities needed to conduct significant energy science and technology programs, and is BNL’s focal point for applied energy research, development, demonstration, and deployment (RDD&D) activities.

ES&T has extensive expertise in -- As a multi-faceted and talent-rich organization, we are especially interested in sharing our knowledge and expertise through partnership, collaborations and technology transfer opportunities, and expand our role in key areas of applied energy RDD&D, regionally, nationally and globally.

ES&T addresses critical research needs of a broad range of sponsors and customers. ES&T has supported DOE’s Offices of Science, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), Fossil Energy (FE) and Nuclear Energy (NE) as well as conducted substantive work for other agencies, including the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and a broad range of other state and national level public and private sector sponsors.
