The Lab community is invited to attend a brown bag lunch meeting on Tuesday, April 2, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Physics seminar room (Bldg. 510) for a discussion about food services at the Laboratory. As announced in the Monday Memo of March 11, Brookhaven Science Associates will soon begin soliciting proposals from prospective vendors to operate food services at the Lab. The contract with the current vendor, Nayyarsons, expires in September. The existing food services vendor arrangement includes the Berkner Cafeteria, Brookhaven Center Club, Bldg. 400 coffee cart, and catering. Our goal is to secure a new food services contract that provides high quality food service at a reasonable cost. Our procurement process is designed not only to reduce costs, but to give food services contractors a much freer hand to propose innovative management, marketing, and delivery strategies that would result in an upgrade to the services currently provided. As part of this process, we are evaluating the long-term need for the Brookhaven Center Club's food and beverage service. There won't be a formal presentation. Rather, this brown bag lunch is an opportunity for an open discussion to share ideas and seek feedback. I look forward to seeing you on April 2.
