"The beam coupling impedance is one of the sources of instabilities and detrimental effects for particle beams in circular accelerators. The total transverse impedance of an accelerator can be quantified evaluating the transverse tune shift with intensity, nevertheless, a method for localizing the most important impedance sources is necessary in order to mitigate their contribution to the total impedance budget. In this talk we will present an overview of the status of the transverse impedance localization measurements recently done in the CERN machines. Particular attention will be paid on the signal to noise limitations and the position reconstruction algorithm.
