Spring is a set of open source Java frameworks. It is widely used in software engineering community for building modular applications, handling persistence, authentication and authorization, transaction management. In the recent years it became a de facto industry standard. I will give an overview of this framework, starting from the central concept of "dependency injection". I will then explain its other features: templates, aspect oriented programming, pointcuts, extension of JUnit tests, MVC patterns. I will finish with a brief overview of web flow management.
