National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) regulations require
federal agencies to evaluate the environmental effects of proposed
major federal activities. The prescribed evaluation process ensures
that the proper level of environmental review is performed before an
irreversible commitment of resources is made. The Environmental
Protection Division coordinates NEPA reviews of BNL projects,
scientific proposals and activities.
