Business Operations Office

The Business Operations Office of the Global and Regional Solutions (GARS) Directorate is responsible for budget development, accounting and financial control. These responsibilities consist of budget formulation, labor budgeting and control, estimate preparation, organizational burden and directorate rate development, funds control as well as financial analysis. The group also provides support services for human resource, purchase orders, RFQs, work order entry, contract administration, invoice payments, communication support, credit cards, time card issues and report distribution. This office also provides assistance to researchers with various business functions and proposal and budget preparation.

As a part of the GARS Directorate and in an effort to support the research community, the Business Office provides support to the following departments:

• Energy Sciences & Technology Department (William Horak, Chair)
• Nonproliferation & National Security Department (Joseph Indusi, Chair)
• Technology Commercialization and Partnerships

One of ten national laboratories overseen and primarily funded by the Office of Science of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Brookhaven National Laboratory conducts research in the physical, biomedical, and environmental sciences, as well as in energy technologies and national security.
