Establishing Network Access for Brookhaven Retirees

General:
Employees who are retiring from the Laboratory may obtain approval to continue to have access to the Laboratory's network and computing resources after their termination under their current account, or instead, to have their Laboratory e-mail forwarded to an off-site address that they provide. A retiree returning to the Laboratory after termination (whose computer account was closed at termination) may obtain approval to have a new one.

To continue having an active account for a one-year term, the retiree must take the following steps:

  • Request sponsorship for the computer account from an Associate/Assistant Laboratory Director (ALD) or a Department/ Division Head (DH).
  • Present, in person, their Brookhaven identification badge to the Account Management Office, building 459, to have their computer account extended.
  • Turn in, in person, their Brookhaven Identification Badge to Safeguards & Security at Building 30, and obtain from them a new badge with the new expiration date.
  • Maintain familiarity and comply with the BNL Computer Use Agreement.

To obtain a new account, the retiree must take the following steps:

  • Request sponsorship for the computer account from an Associate/Assistant Laboratory Director (ALD) or a Department/ Division Head (DH) by completing a computer Account Request Form. The Authorization section must be completed by an Associate/Assistant Laboratory Director (ALD) or a Department/ Division Head (DH).
  • Present, in person, their Brookhaven Identification Badge (retiree’s badge) along with the signed completed Computer Request form to the Account Management Office, Building 459, who then will set up a new computer account.
  • Complete the web-based Cyber Security Training

To request to have their Laboratory e-mail forwarded to an off-site address provided by the retiree, the following step must be taken:

  • Request sponsorship for the computer account from an Associate/Assistant Laboratory Director (ALD) or a Department/ Division Head (DH).
