Establishing Network Access for
Brookhaven Retirees
General:
Employees who are retiring from the Laboratory may obtain
approval to continue to have access to the Laboratory's
network and computing resources after their termination
under their current account, or instead, to have their
Laboratory e-mail forwarded to an off-site address that
they provide. A retiree returning to the Laboratory after
termination (whose computer account was closed at
termination) may obtain approval to have a new one.
To continue having an active account for a one-year term,
the retiree must take the following steps:

Request sponsorship for the computer
account from an Associate/Assistant Laboratory Director
(ALD) or a Department/ Division Head (DH).

Present, in person, their Brookhaven
identification badge to the Account Management Office,
building 459, to have their computer account extended.

Turn in, in person, their Brookhaven
Identification Badge to Safeguards & Security at Building
30, and obtain from them a new badge with the new
expiration date.

Maintain familiarity and comply with the BNL
Computer Use Agreement.
To obtain a new account, the retiree must
take the following steps:

Request sponsorship for the computer
account from an Associate/Assistant Laboratory Director
(ALD) or a Department/ Division Head (DH) by completing a
computer
Account Request Form.
The Authorization section must be completed by an
Associate/Assistant Laboratory Director (ALD) or a
Department/ Division Head (DH).

Present, in person, their Brookhaven
Identification Badge (retiree’s badge) along with the
signed completed Computer Request form to the Account
Management Office, Building 459, who then will set up a
new computer account.

Complete the
web-based Cyber Security
Training
To request to have their Laboratory e-mail
forwarded to an off-site address provided by the retiree,
the following step must be taken:

Request sponsorship for the computer
account from an Associate/Assistant Laboratory Director
(ALD) or a Department/ Division Head (DH).
