Emergency Installations of Speakerphones

There have been a surprising number of last-minute requests (typically, just prior to scheduled conferences) for installation of 612S/624S speakerphones as temporary replacements for 612/624 telephone sets. Requesters are apparently unaware that such replacements require labor to reprogram the line for the speakerphone, labor to reprogram it again for restoration of the original set, and labor associated with delivery, installation, and pickup. Telecom Services has been absorbing this cost.

The difference in the monthly charge for a speakerphone (of the same type as the phone it temporarily replaces) is at most 89 cents and hardly worth the inconvenience to effect these temporary (and, often, last-minute) conversions. Therefore, effective immediately, any such conversions will be billed at standard labor rates and must be ordered with an ILR. A charge of $50 can be estimated.
