Unix ServicesEnterprise MySQLMySQL is an open-source SQL database server that supports multiple applications and websites across the laboratory. MySQL supports various languages for data queries and manipulation, including PHP, Perl, Python, Java, Ruby, ASP, and .NET. ITD Unix Services maintains a highly-available MySQL 5.1 installation. This service is only available to the internal BNL network. Data from ITD's MySQL service is backed up regularly in multiple ways, allowing full point-in-time recovery for enterprise-level applications that require it. Various command-line and graphical tools are available for interaction with, and administration of, MySQL servers. There are many open source, shareware and commercial products on the market. To request an account and/or database on ITD's MySQL service or for assistance in setting up a separate MySQL installation specific to your needs, contact the ITD Helpdesk at x5522 or via email to itdhelp@bnl.gov.
